The initiative, funded through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Rapid Reskill Dislocated Worker grant program, targets 628 laid-off workers across 15 North Carolina counties. The grant will help employers rebuild the regional industrial base and focus on high-growth sectors such as advanced manufacturing and construction companies adopting new technology. The program includes four components: identify corporate layoffs and connect with impacted workers within 30 days to establish personalized re-employment plans, and use artificial intelligence tools on NCCareers.org to map their skills and experience to active job openings.
