(WGHP) — We’re waking up to scattered clouds and through the day, clouds will continue to increase across the Piedmont.

Temperatures will be closer to normal today, rising to 83. The UV index is 9 out of 11.

Overnight, we start with mostly cloudy skies, but as daybreak approaches, enjoy a partly cloudy sunrise. Lows will be in the mid-60s.

The first surge of heat arrives tomorrow as a cold front approaches from the west. Highs will hit the upper 80s Thursday and lower 90s Friday, and there isn’t any rain in the forecast.

The cold front comes through late Friday, and high temperatures will cool off slightly over the weekend, settling to the mid-to-upper 80s. This is a temporary setback, as we’ll return to the lower 90s by the beginning of next week.

We are going to have unusually dry weather for an extended period, likely 10 days or more. Consider conserving water when you can to ease the demand in case this drought continues in the weeks to come.
