Some Triangle business owners are demanding an apology or resignation from the head of the nonprofit Shop Local Raleigh, Jennifer Martin, following her anonymous comment on transgender youth identity. The post was posted in the Facebook group Networking Women of the Triangle and was directed to a parent seeking sports opportunities for their transgender child. While Martin made the post anonymously, her identity was made public by the group's administrators. The News & Observer has reviewed screenshots confirming Martin’s personal account sent the comment. The controversy has led to several business members questioning their membership in the organization.
