Great white shark pinged off NC coast near Kitty Hawk

As the summer months bring more people to the Atlantic Coast and North Carolina beaches, great white sharks are doing the same thing. OCEARCH Shark Tracker, a group that collects ocean data for scientists, tracks great white sharks as they migrate north and south, with some surfacing off North Carolina's coast. The sharks are fitted with transmitters and each time they surface, they give off a ping. One of the most recent pings was Keji, a white shark that was tagged in 2021 and has been tracked for 14,000 miles. On May 26, another shark, Ocracoke, a 430-pound male great white shark, also pinged off our coast.
