A North Carolina boy is still recovering after a crash just north of Durham County killed his mother, father, and sister last month, according to family friends. The crash occurred around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, near mile marker 197 at the Smith Road overpass. The driver of the Toyota Highlander, Jason Nye and Christina Nye from Charlotte, along with their daughter, Cori, died in the crash. Jaceon, who survived and was airlifted to Duke University Hospital, is receiving treatment for critical injuries including two broken vertebrae, a broken right arm, small and large intestine ruptures, and bleeding on his brain. Despite these improvements, there are still significant uncertainty surrounding Jaceon's recovery and long-term outlook.
