NC State, Goebbel turn attention forward after Doeren's midseason firing

N.C. State interim coach Todd Goebbel faces the job of guiding the Wolfpack through the remainder of the schedule after the midseason firing of 14th-year coach Dave Doeren. Goebbel's first N.C. State football coach Dave Doeren was fired midseason, ending his 14-year tenure at the school, making him the program's winningest all-time coach and the fourth-longest tenured coach in the Bowl Subdivision ranks. Todd Goebbel, who had worked under Doeren for eight seasons, took over as interim head coach after Doeren's dismissal. Goebbe has been on the staff since 2019 and most recently served as running backs coach and special teams coordinator. He will take over from Doeren and is expected to lead the team through the final five games of the regular season. Other changes include defensive coordinator DJ Eliot and assistant Charlton Warren taking over defensive playcalling.
