DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A pregnant woman is one of two people shot in Durham Tuesday afternoon just a day after a toddler and man were injured in a drive-by shooting and a woman was shot early Tuesday morning in Durham, police said.
The pregnant woman’s shooting was reported just before 4:10 p.m. in the 200 block of Tobler Court at the Sherwood Park Apartments off Cheek Road and east of E. Geer Street, according to the Durham Police Department.
“When officers arrived, they found an adult female victim, who is pregnant, suffering from a gunshot wound,” officers said in a news release.
EMS crews responded and took the woman to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Soon after that shooting Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to Duke University Hospital where a man had arrived with a gunshot wound, police said.
He was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital, according to police.
Police later said the man was shot at the same location as the pregnant woman on Tobler Court.
“Based on our investigation, the shooting is a domestic incident and there is no threat to the community,” officers said in the news release.
The two people shot in Durham Tuesday afternoon comes just 24 hours after a 3-year-old boy and a man were shot — with the toddler in critical condition — behind a Walgreens store Monday afternoon.
That shooting happened as a car drove through the parking area of the Walgreens in the 700 block of Fayetteville Street and someone inside opened fire at the car the toddler and man were inside, police said.
Also, a woman was shot around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Fayetteville Street, which is about 600 feet from the Walgreens shooting scene, Durham police said.
EMS crews responded to the scene and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
