Around 10 a.m. on Oct. 22, town officials learned the town hall&#… Whitsett, North Carolina, officials have issued a warning after the town hall's email account was hacked on Oct. 22. The town hall’s Microsoft account was accessed without authorization, sending an email with the subject line “Ref: Approved Payment Report from Whitsett.” Whitset officials have urged anyone who received the email to not open it, provide financial information or provide any personal information, and if they provided any financial information, contact their bank. The Town of Whitsert's information technology provider secured the affected accounts and passwords.
