NC attorney general opposes EPA rollback of PFAS reporting requirements
North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson is opposing federal efforts to scale back data collection requirements for PFAS chemicals. North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson has joined 13 other state attorneys general in opposing federal efforts to reduce data collection requirements for PFAS chemicals. The EPA is proposing exceptions that would exempt nearly 98 percent of businesses from reporting PFAS levels in their products. These changes come as the agency was set to begin collecting data from manufacturers about the types and amounts of PFAS in consumer products. Jackson believes consumers should be able to know how much and what kinds ofPFAS are in products. The attorneys general of California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin also oppose the EPA's proposed exceptions.
