The facility will support Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina and will be located on the TBMNC campus. GMI will segregate substances from non-hazardous, dry battery scraps and send them to recyclers for further processing. Wet battery waste will also be collected, stored and delivered offsite for recycling. The company will have training support from Randolph Community College and will bring another 47 jobs to the area.

LIBERTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Green Metals, Inc. announced plans to build a facility for electric vehicle battery waste handling and recycling on Monday.
The operation will support Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina and will be located on the TBMNC campus.
At the facility, GMI will segregate substances from non-hazardous, dry battery scraps and send the segregated scrap material to recyclers for further processing. Wet battery waste will be collected, stored and delivered offsite for recycling. GMI will also handle and store other TBMNC waste including cardboard and plastic, which will be compacted onsite and delivered to offsite recycling destinations.
“We join with our EDC team in welcoming another Toyota Tsusho project to Randolph County. Green Metals, Inc. will bring an important service to Toyota Battery in the form of a waste handling and recycling facility,” Darrell Faye, chairman of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners said in a press release.
The company will have training support from Randolph Community College.
According to Faye, GMI will bring another 47 jobs to the area, boost the economy and provide employment opportunities to citizens.
