A man accused of choking a woman and holding her at gunpoint during a domestic dispute in Randolph County has been arrested.
Nathan Alan Yokum, 34, has been charged with strangulation and wanton endangerment with a firearm while drug possession charges are pending, according to a news release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office.
The news release said deputies responded to a domestic incident along Gun Dog Road Tuesday as a woman relayed information to emergency dispatchers, saying Yokum accused her of missing drugs and choked her before dragging her through the house.
The woman told dispatchers Yokum had pointed a shotgun at her and followed her as she left the residence. Deputies said the woman was located along Shaffer's Run Road and marks on her neck were "consistent with strangulation."
Law enforcement formed a perimeter around the Gun Dog Road residence while friends and relatives of Yokum convinced him to surrender.
Investigators reported Yokum to be in possession of pills and syringes at the time of his arrest. A search of the property revealed a loaded shotgun, ammunition, suspected methamphetamine, marijuana seeds and drug paraphernalia.
Yokum is being held on a $75,000 cash-only bail at Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
