N.C. Farm Bureau and NCIUA Partner with Department of Insurance in Undercover Sting Operation That Leads to Insurance Fraud Arrest
Joint effort targets contractors who create roof damage to collect insurance proceeds N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company (NCFB) and the North Carolina Insurance Underwriters Association (NCIUA) conducted a joint undercover investigation with the North. Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) Criminal Investigations Division led to the arrest of Cameron Alexander Hammond, 34, from Vanceboro, who is accused of intentionally damaging roofing shingles and falsely reporting it to insurance companies as weather damage to gain insurance proceeds and a commission for a roof replacement. Hammond is scheduled to appear in Beaufort County District Court on Dec. 17.
